Hanova is a custom knife for the time being. If you like what you see and are interested in purchasing a knife, a wait listed book has been opened. Please complete a pre-order and you will be contacted regarding the details of your knife.
When I set out to build a really world class flipper folder I had a few goals in mind. I wanted it to be fast, I mean FAST. That led me to use a radial bearing instead of a traditional pivot. No need to fine tune the tension of the pivot screw. You can flip it a million times and it is consistent. It feels great to open a really fast knife, again and again. You should be able to.
Knives for me are tools, to be used. They can be astoundingly beautiful tools, but they belong in a pocket or backpack, somewhere they can be handled. I don't want to make a knife that can't handle real use. For that reason I built Hanova with a straight edged main blade having a corner point and a chisel front.
I'm a design nerd. I've read and re-read "The Design of Everyday Things". The fact of the matter is that many knives, especially higher end ones, are not all that comfortable to hold and use. It's a modern problem everywhere, putting style over substance. I've done my best with Hanova to combine a stunning design with both useability and durability. Hanova features a unique flip mechanism that hides the flipper tab when the knife is open and a sleek recurved recess that acts as a finger guard. To make it comfortable both scales have full 3D contouring that presents an instantly recognizable aesthetic as well as a stable grip.
Hanova isn't quite ready to buy yet but it's getting really close. The first set of prototypes knives will ship soon. You can follow along with the progress on my instagram can catchup with the youtube playlist below. A new episode of knifemaking comes our every tuesday (plus or minus).
